Battlefield 2: Bad Company Site

The Eternal Watch Battlefield 2: Bad Company Site Online!

I remember the first day The Eternal Watch was formed back in 1998 in Asheron's Call by me, Silverdragon/Desrike, Charity DeVille/Soulcatcher, Alistair, Lahanna, Lewstherin/Drkdragon, and Ffearless. Then we moved to Asheron's Call II where we merged with Clan Imbrium and became friends with all the CI folks including Lorb, Blayz, Shartenn, Beryl, Jugg, Stagmo, Syrex, Buffina, Aethir, Naj, Oz, and many others still in the guild or have been. After a brief stint in Lineage 2, we moved to World of Warcraft first within Keepers of the Vault, and then, in order to have a more raid-oriented progression, reforming The Eternal Watch. Since then we have had a fair sized group in several other games including Aion, Age of Conan, Lords of the Ring Online, and D&D Online.

Now we have a fair following of TEW moving into another game...Battlefield 2: Bad Company!

I've created a BF2BC site for us to congregate to for the game. This will avoid us having to post on the WoW or Aion forums and keep games to themselves. Please visit the site and "Apply to Clan" so I can give you permissions to the site: http://the-eternal-watch-bf2bc.guildlaunch.com

To speed up the application acceptance process, I've added a Launch Code. Just type in the launch code in the application and you'll be automatically added as a member. See this post for more information:

    * In the Deathbringer Saurfang encounters, the boss is now less likely to cast Blood Nova on targets affected by Mark of the Fallen Champion.
    * In both normal and heroic versions of the 10 player Rotface encounter, the mutated infection ability will not be cast as quickly while the fight progresses.
    * In the 10- and 25-player heroic Festergut encounters, the malleable goo ability should no longer target pets.
    * In the Valithria Dreamwalker encounters, the duration of Emerald Vigor and Twisted Nightmares were slightly increased.
    * In the Sindragosa encounters, the duration of the instability debuff was slightly reduced.

Update to Raiding Guidelines...

by Mithoron, 11 days ago

Although we've stated it for almost a year now on the boards and whatnot, it was brought to my attention that there was nothing in the Raiding Guidelines for new recruits and such to see concerning "pugging" DKP-related content...so have added that clause in:

Quote:
Raid Participation
    Raiding within The Eternal Watch is purely optional--there is no mandatory raiding; however, that being said, due to natural decay of DKP for DKP-related raids, it is suggested to maintain a good attendance in order to bid upon items. DKP is based upon the premise of the more one raids, the more they will be able to earn items.

    If you do raid, it is expected you raid with the guild, particularly raids associated with the DKP system (see DKP Loot Rules). The system was designed to allow competitive bidding and appropriate rewards based upon the time spent raiding with the guild. This means that raiding with other guilds or participating in "pug" raids for content still having DKP rules for the guild is strictly forbidden without extreme extenuating circumstances approved by the guild leader BEFORE such actions are taken; otherwise, participating in non-guild raids for DKP content is grounds for dismissal and removal from The Eternal Watch.

So now there should be no more confusion or any comments like "I never saw that post..."

People with Authenticators

by Stagmo, 11 days ago

From MMO Champion

Naxx wrote:
Anyone who has an authenticator attached to their account should run a search (and probably an antivirus scan in case it's on the threat list already) immediately and ensure the file emcor.dll does not exist on your computer. This file is one reported to be allowing hackers to access World of Warcraft accounts that have authenticators attached to them. It's also possible there are other variations of these suspicious files, so if anyone has additional information please respond in the comments.

Based on this thread, the file may be found in /users/username/appdata/Temp. Since the file is fairly new (first mentions of it are only a few days ago), and the common source is unknown, I urge everyone to not log in to World of Warcraft or the account management site until you've run a scan. Confirm your computer is secure before using your authenticator, because this DLL file is allowing hackers to crack through it and access your account.

A warning sign that you're currently infected with this keylogger is that WoW will say your authentication code is incorrect, even if you know for sure you typed in the correct code.

More Patch 3.3.5 Stuff

Gnomeregan will be recaptured before Cataclysm!
A couple of very very very interesting achievements were added to the game files with this patch. I'm pretty sure it wasn't intentional but ...

* Gnomecoming King - You assisted High Tinker Mekkatorque and the Gnomeregan Exiles in the recapture of Gnomeregan's surface.
* Gnomecoming Queen - You assisted High Tinker Mekkatorque and the Gnomeregan Exiles in the recapture of Gnomeregan's surface.

Apparently, parts of the pre-Cataclysm event have been deployed in this patch and retaking Gnomeregan will be part of it!

Blizzard didn't forget about horde players, it looks like Trolls will play a big part in the pre-Cataclysm event for the Horde :

New taxi nodes

* Durotar - ET - CC Prologue Troll Taxi Bat Start (#438)
* Durotar - ET - CC Prologue Troll Recruit End (#439)
* Durotar - ET - CC Prologue - Troll Battle End (#440)

After going through the patch files I found a couple of extra spells that might be related to the event, see the spell comparison part of the new.

New Models
A few extra models have been added with this patch.
* Two new mounts, the Blazing Hippogryph and the Wooly White Rhino.
* An updated model for Anduin Wrynn, the son of Varian Wrynn

* Number 2. The lieutenants are sub-bosses which will each drop an Emblem of Frost. Halion is the main boss. While the activation of Heroic difficulty is different from the Obsidian Sanctum, the overall raid format for the Ruby Sanctum is very comparable.
* You're likely to find some random pieces of armor on par with Lich King loot, similar to the items Onyxia dropped while Trial of the Crusader was the top-tier raid. You can also expect to see some more trinkets and things of that nature.
* This raid will not only provide a bit of additional content to pair with the current content of patch 3.3, it will be the beginning of an advancement in the storyline for Cataclysm.
* The plan is to have a normal mode and a heroic mode just like Icecrown Citadel, so far there is no plan for a Sartharion +1/+2/+3-like encounter.

I'm sure some of you noticed this in the 3.3.3 PTR patch notes:

For those curious, here are the items for which you can trade your Frozen Orbs to Frozo. These each cost 1 Frozen Orb unless noted otherwise in parentheses:
* Crusader Orb (6)
* Runed Orb (4)
* Eternal Fire
* Eternal Earth
* Eternal Water
* Eternal Air
* Eternal Life
* Eternal Shadow
* Frost Lotus
* Pattern: Frosty Flying Carpet [Tailors Only] (6)

Assault on the Ruby Sanctum - Patch 3.3.5

by Stagmo, 19 days ago

Zarhym wrote:
As we prepare for the public testing phase of minor content patch 3.3.3, some players might come across information regarding upcoming content that isn't yet available. To avoid any confusion, we'd like to tell you about an exciting new raid dungeon we are working on for content patch 3.3.5.

The Ruby Sanctum

A powerful war party of the Black Dragonflight, led by the fearsome Twilight dragon, Halion, have launched an assault upon the Ruby Sanctum beneath Wyrmrest Temple. By destroying the sanctum, the Black Dragonflight look to crush those that would stand in the way of their master’s reemergence into Azeroth and to ultimately shatter the Wyrmrest Accord – the sacred bond that unites the dragonflights.

The battle that is to come will surely deal a crippling blow to the Red Dragonflight, however, it is up to you to stop this unprecedented offensive and defend the Ruby Sanctum. First you must face the assault of Halion's servants, Saviana Ragefire, Baltharus the Warborn, and General Zarithrian, before squaring off against Halion the Twilight Destroyer, a new and deadly force in this realm.

The Ruby Sanctum will feature 10- and 25-player content, Heroic difficulties and all-new rewards! Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to its release.

Tanking Changes

by Stagmo, 34 days ago

From MMO Champion:

Crygil wrote:

We are making some adjustments to tank survivability based on what we’re seeing in Icecrown Citadel. We feel this is particularly important in preparation for upcoming Heroic attempts. This is tricky and occasionally subjective, so we might very well make more adjustments as we get even more data.

Paladin:
Sacred Duty now provides 2 / 4% Stamina, down from 4 / 8% Stamina. The cooldown advantages of the talent remain unchanged.
Death Knight:
Frost Presence now provides 8% Stamina, up from 6% Stamina.
Icebound Fortitude now provides 30% base damage reduction, up from 20% damage reduction. For a geared tank with high defense, this translates to 50% damage reduction, up from 40%.

It’s important to note that we aren’t trying to single out paladins here. We like the tank balance of warriors and druids at the moment, and we have a larger sample size of warrior tanks that we can compare. Another solution would have been to buff warriors, death knights and druids and then increase boss damage accordingly. Obviously, that would have been a much larger change with greater risks and a longer delay.

Though Ardent Defender is always a possible target for changes, we like that this talent provides such a distinction between warriors and paladins. Rather than have all the tanks have the same health, armor, avoidance and cooldowns, we’d rather have four unique tanking classes rather than just superficial or artistic differences. Yes, that design is harder to balance, but we think class distinction is ultimately more interesting, which is better for the long term health of the game. The goal remains to have all four tanks be viable for any encounter, assuming sufficient gear and skill, and any differences in performance on individual encounters to be minor. “Minor” is obviously a subjective term.

Please note that the death knight change will result in a small survivability increase in PvP, which we think is appropriate. We chose it partially with that in mind.

Thank you Diri, Velo, and others!

by Mithoron, 37 days ago

I would like to thank everybody who has donated so far to the guild funds...the few donations we've gotten this week alone will keep the Ventrilo and website servers up for several months!

For those donating, please send me a PM on your real name so I can sort out who has donated. I know Diri and Velo have donated but have a few others whose e-mail addresses I do not recognize and would like to update the Guild Donations page with your recognition and my thanks!
